The Fun Lockdown Walk.

Sometime in the lockdown me and my Aunty went on a walk to the Ōtākaro river, which is at the end of our street. I biked and my Aunty scootered there. On the way I biked on the road. When we got there it was so muddy and I got it all over my shoes. Then we picked up a great big long stick that I found in the water. It was all sticky and gross but it was worth it because I love picking up big sticks. Then I saw the pipes, water came out of it and  kept going faster and faster. Then me and my Aunty did some skimming rocks to see who could do the best and my Aunty did the best and most skims.
I saw a hill that went all the way down to the end of the river. I went on the hill and biked all the way down! When I got to the end of the river it was so muddy, sticky and smelly. There was a lot of flies surrounding something but nothing was their. I tried to get out of the muddy place but it was so muddy I could hardly move! It was as muddy as quick sand! But  I got out in the end. When I got out we went back home and practice biking on the road the whole way home! It was a very fun walk!

  1. Kia ora Makaia,

Ka rawe! Your post is awesome. I loved hearing all about your trip down to the river. It sounds like a great time with your Aunt. I love skimming stones with my kids. I'm not as good as my son at it though. He seems to always pick good stones.

Keep up the great learning and blogging,

  2. Kia ora, Makaia
Sounds like you had a real adventure. Maybe not one with quicksand like in the movies, but a NZ adventure!
It can get quite boggy and muddy near rivers and ponds. I'm surprised you didn't lose a shoe in the mud!
Did you go over to where the flies were to investigate if something attracted them? What did you expect to find?

    Keep having adventures

  3. Kia ora Makaia. Sounds like a fun trip you had with your Aunty. This reminds me of a time I got stuck in some sticky mud on a school camp near Spencer Park. The mud got everywhere on my clothes and shoes. It was really hard getting my shoes clean again. I like how you used a smilie in your writing it helps the reader understand how the mud was so sticky. Well done.

  4. Ahiahi mārie Makaia! Sounds like you and your aunty went on quite the adventure! Wow, the stick in the picture is just as tall as you are! I love all of the descriptive language you have used in this writing, it helps me to create a clear picture in my head. What is the best technique for skimming stones? I would love to get some tips because I really struggle doing this! Ka rawe Makaia, keep up the tino pai blogging :)
